WordPad File, Home and View Menu

WordPad is a basic word processor that is included with almost all versions of Microsoft Windows. It is used to create and edit files, include text with different fonts and colors, insert pictures, and add links to other files. It is more advanced than Microsoft Notepad but simpler than Microsoft Word. The extension name of is WordPad is ‘.rtf’.

Uses of WordPad in Computer: -
àTo use text with different font and color
àTo learn a basic task of computer
àTo view and edit WordPad files
àTo link with another program

How To Open WordPad: -
We can use three methods to open WordPad.

1st Method: -
àClick on windows logo button(ÿ)/start button.
àClick on All Programs
àClick on Accessories
àClick on WordPad
àThen WordPad will Open.

2nd Method: -
àPress Windows Logo Button on Keyboard
àType ‘WordPad’ Press Enter Key
àThen WordPad will Open.

3rd Method: -
àPress (WIN+R) Key on Keyboard
àType WordPad, WordPad or WordPad without any space
àPress Enter Key
àThen WordPad will Open...

When WordPad will open then WordPad Window show like this.

Title Bar
At the top of Notepad Window, Where Untitled-Notepad has written and minimize, maximize or close button appear is called Title Bar.

Text Area
Where type any text in any area of Notepad Window, that area is called Text Area.

Status Bar
The below of text area, where line number(ln) and column number(col) are shown is called status bar.

Menu Bar
The below of Title Bar, where many menus are shown is called Menu Bar. There are five menus in Notepad Menu Bar. That is File, Edit, format, View, Help.                                                               

To activate any menu of menu bar press ‘Alt’ key with underline letter of any menu.

As: - File – Alt+F, Edit – Alt+E, Format – Alt+O, View – Alt+V, Help – Alt+H

File Menu
This menu is used to open, save, or print and to see everything else you can do with your document.

New (Ctrl+N)
àThis is used to create a new document.
àClick on File Menu.
àClick on New.
àThen type some text.

Open (Ctrl+O)
This is used to open an existing document.
àClick on File Menu.
àClick on Open.
àThen ‘Open Box’ will appear. Select any file from ‘Open box’.
àClick on Open.
àThen that file will open…

Save (Ctrl+S)
This is used to save the active document.
àClick on File Menu.
àClick on New
àType some text.
àClick on save. then ‘Save As’ box will appear.
àType File Name in File Name Box.
àClick on Save.
àThen that file will save…

Save As
This is used to save the document with a new name or format.
àClick on File Menu then click New.
àType some text.
àClick on File Menu then click Save As.
àThen ‘Save As’ box will appear.
àType File Name in ‘File Name’ box. Then, click save.
àThen that file will save.

If you want to save previously saved file with a new name or format.
àFirstly, you open a previously saved file.
àClick on File Menu then ‘Save As’.
àThen, ‘Save As’ box will appear.
àChange your file name in file name box and change file location.
àThen, click on save.

Print (Ctrl+P)
This is used to print the current document through printer.
इसका प्रयोग हम किसी भी डॉक्यूमेंट को प्रिन्टर के द्वारा print करने के लिए करते हैं |
àFirstly, you open a file that you want to print through printer.
àClick on file menu then print. Then, ‘Print’ box will appear.
àSelect your printer, type number of copies.
àThen click on apply and then print.                                                                                       
àThen your file will be print through printer.

Quick Print
This is used to print the document directly to the default printer without making changes.
इसका प्रयोग हम अपने डॉक्यूमेंट के settings में बिना कोई changing किये direct printer के द्वारा print करने के लिए करते हैं |

Print Preview
This is used to preview and make changes to pages before printing.
इसका प्रयोग हम अपने Page को printing से पहले देखने और settings में changing करने के लिए करते हैं |
àClick on File Menu then click print then click on print preview.

Page Setup
This is used to change page layout settings.
इसका प्रयोग हम अपने डॉक्यूमेंट के page size, orientation और margins आदि set और change करने के लिए करते हैं |
àClick on file menu then Page Setup.
àThen, ‘Page Setup’ box will appear.
àSelect any paper size from size box, set paper orientation portrait or landscape, set paper margins from left, right, top, bottom. Then, Click on ok.

Exit (Alt+FX)
This is used to exit from WordPad Window.
इसका प्रयोग हम वर्डपैड विन्डो से बाहर आने के लिए करते हैं |
àClick on File menu.
àClick on Exit.
àThen you will exit from Notepad Window.

Home menu
1. Clipboard
Undo (Ctrl+Z)
àThis is used to bring or remove any cut or deleted text.
àFirstly, you cut or delete any selected text.
àClick on Edit Menu then click undo.

Cut (Ctrl+X)
This is used to cut the selected text and graphics.
इसका प्रयोग हम किसी भी selected text और graphics को cut करने के लिए करते हैं |
àFirstly, you select any text and graphics.
àClick on Home Menu then click cut in the clipboard group.
àThen that selected text and graphics will cut….

Copy (Ctrl+C)
This is used to copy any selected text and graphics.
इसका प्रयोग हम किसी भी selected text और graphics को copy करने के लिए करते हैं|
àFirstly, you select any text and graphics.
àClick on Home Menu then click copy in the clipboard group.
àThen that selected text and graphics will copy.

Paste (Ctrl+V)
This is used to paste the cut or copy any  text and graphics.
इसका प्रयोग हम किसी भी cut या copy किये गये text और graphics को paste करने के लिए करते हैं |
àFirstly, you cut or copy any selected text and graphics.
àClick on Home Menu then click paste in the clipboard group.
àThen that cut or copy text and graphics will paste.

Paste Special (Alt+Ctrl+V)
This is used to paste slides, text, pictures, objects, and tables from other programs and it as a link.
इसका प्रयोग दुसरे program से slide, text, pictures, objects और table को अपने program के file में लाने और उससे एक link बनाने के लिए करते हैं |
àCut or copy the slide, picture, text, or object that you want to paste.
àClick in your WordPad file at the place you wish to insert that item.
àOn the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the arrow under Paste, click Paste Special. Then, ‘paste special box’ will appear.
àClick on paste or paste link, check ‘Display as Icon’ then click ok.
