PAST PERFECT TENSE

Past Perfect Tense:- The Tense which shows that an action had ended in past time is called Past Perfect Tense.

वह Tense जो यह दर्शाता है की कोई कार्य बीते हुए समय में समाप्त हो चुका हो, उसे past perfect tense कहते हैं|

Identification:-वाक्य के अन्त में या था, ये थे, यी थी तथा चुका था, चुके थे, चुकी थी आदि पाया जाता हैं |

 Stru:- S+had+V₃+O+R.M

Rule:-1.We use ‘had’ with all subjects in all sentences and then V₃.

I,We,You,They,He,She,It,                              had and V₃

single and two or more than two name    

2.In Negative sentence,we use ‘not’ after ‘had’ and then V₃.

                                    Had not  =  hadn’t

3.In interrogative sentence, we use ‘had’ before the subject and V₃ after the subject.

4. In Interrogative negative sentence, we use ‘had’ before the subject and ‘not’ after the subject and then V₃. 

AFFIRMATIVE

Stru:- S+had+V₃+O+R.M.

1.मैं अपना पाठ याद कर चुका था |

I had learnt my lesson.

2.तब तक टीना जा चुकी थी |

Teena had gone by then.

3.वह मुम्बई पहले ही जा चुका था |

He had already gone to Mumbai.

4.मैं यह काम कर चुका था |

I had done this work.

5.कल तुम घर जल्दी आ चुके थे |

You had come home early yesterday.

NEGATIVE

Stru:- S+had+not+V₃+O+R.M.

1.मैं अपना पाठ याद नहीं कर चुका था |

 I had not/hadn’t learnt my lesson.

2.तब तक टीना नहीं जा चुकी थी |

Teena had not/hadn’t gone by then.

3.वह मुम्बई पहले ही नहीं जा चुका था |

He had not/hadn’t already gone to Mumbai.

4.मैं यह काम नहीं कर चुका था |

I had not/hadn’t done this work.

5.कल तुम घर जल्दी नहीं आ चुका थे |

You had not/hadn’t come home early yesterday.

                               INTERROGATIVE

1.क्या मैं अपना पाठ याद कर चुका था ?

 Had I learnt my lesson?

2.क्या तब तक टीना जा चुकी थी ?

 Had Teena gone by then?

1.मैं अपना पाठ कब याद कर चुका था ?

 When had I learnt my lesson?

2.तब तक टीना क्यों जा चुकी थी ?

Why had Teena gone by then?

3.वह मुम्बई पहले ही क्यों जा चुका था ?

Why had He already gone to Mumbai?

4.कैसे मैं यह काम कर चुका था ?

 How had I done this work?

5.कल तुम घर जल्दी कब आ चुके थे ?

When had You come home early yesterday?

NOTE:- If In any sentences, two work will be happen in past time and 1^st work completed before 2^nd work then for 1^st compeleted work we use past perfect tense and for the last completed work we use past indefinite tense.

यदि भुतकाल में दो कार्य हुआ हो और एक कार्य दुसरे कार्य के पहले पूर्णरूपेण समाप्त हो गया हो तो पहले समाप्त होने वाले कार्य के लिए past perfect tense और बाद में समाप्त होने वाले कार्य के लिए past indefinite tense कि क्रिया का प्रयोग होता है |

E.g.-1.डॉक्टर के आने से पहले रोगी मर चुका था |

The Patient had died before the doctor came.

2.वे लोग देखकर लिख चुके थे मोनी चाची के आने से पहले |

They had written to see before Moni aunti came.                    

3.पुलिस के आने से पहले चोर भाग चुका था |

 The Thief had feld away before the Police came.
